Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C benefits for skin
Bright tone. Fewer dark spots. Added antioxidant support. That’s the core. Vitamin C helps even tone and supports collagen. It pairs well with daily SPF for steady gains.
Serum textures: water, gel, oil
Water-based serums feel light and sink fast. Great for oily or combo skin and morning use. Gels set quickly and sit well under makeup.
Light oil or emulsion suits dry or mature skin. They cushion actives and slow water loss. If shine is a worry, use a pea-sized amount.
How to use vitamin C daily
Start small and stay steady. Cleanse, pat dry, and apply a few drops to face and neck. Let it absorb, then moisturiser, then SPF in the morning.
Watch for colour shifts. Dark orange or brown means oxidation. Keep bottles closed, away from heat and light.
Go easy with strong actives. Vitamin C plays well with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. Add acids or retinoids on alternate nights if you’re new.
5–10% for starters
New to actives? Begin at 5–10%. Move to 10–20% only when your skin stays calm. Tingling means back off or reduce use.
L-ascorbic vs gentler forms
L-ascorbic acid hits fast but can tingle. Ascorbyl glucoside and sodium ascorbyl phosphate feel gentler and suit acne-prone skin. THD ascorbate pairs well with dry or mature skin.
Patch test steps
Apply a small amount on the jawline for two nights. Check for redness or sting. If clear, use on full face three to four times a week, then build.
Morning routine with serum and SPF
AM use gives you antioxidant cover when you need it most. Apply serum, wait a minute, then moisturiser. Finish with SPF 30+ every day.
Worried about pilling? Keep layers thin and give each step a short settle time. Makeup goes on last once skin feels dry to the touch.
